In the near future, I plan to introduce a condolence resolution honoring the life and work of former State Representative Jerry Stern, of Martinsburg, Blair County, who passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 69 years old.
Representative Stern was a great friend and mentor of mine. He will always be remembered for his faith, kindness and thoughtful legislation. Having served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1992-2014. During his time in the House, he served as Minority Caucus Secretary, from 2007-2010; appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, from 2001-2006; appointed to the Task Force on Commonwealth Owned Lands, in 2002; and appointed to the Legislative Data Processing Center Commission, from 2009-2010.
Prior to his time in the House, Representative Stern worked as a Store Manager at the Wineland IGA in Martinsburg from 1975-1982. He also served Blair County as Deputy Prothonotary from 1982-1989, until being elected Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts, from 1989-1992.
Representative Stern’s life was dedicated to his family and public service, and we are forever grateful to him. Please join me in co-sponsoring this condolence resolution to honor the life of this wonderful public servant and former colleague.
