In the near future we will be re-introducing legislation requiring the Department of Revenue (DOR) to maintain a telephonic tax filing system to ensure the efficient and cost-effective filing of taxes for the 15,703 users who currently use this system.

In recent years, the DOR has been transitioning to the online MyPATH system for business tax filing. In doing so, they planned to completely eliminate the Telefile system. The Telefile system allows taxpayers to conveniently, efficiently, and securely file their business taxes by telephone, and is extensively relied upon by the Amish and Mennonite communities throughout Pennsylvania. Last year there were 15,703 distinct users who completed 61,656 returns that remitted over $63 million in payments through the Telefile system.

We are reintroducing this legislation to ensure that this crucial tool remains available to the thousands of taxpaying individuals who rely upon it. This proposal is strongly supported by the NFIB.
