This bill amends the Human Services Code of Pennsylvania to enhance the definitions related to child care and to adjust copayment requirements for subsidized child care. New definitions are introduced, including "child care," which refers to the supervision of children under sixteen years of age away from home, and "child-care center," which is a certified premises providing care for seven or more unrelated children. Additionally, the bill defines "family child-care home" and "child-care employe," clarifying the roles and settings in which child care is provided.

Furthermore, the bill modifies the copayment structure for subsidized child care, allowing parents or caretakers who are employed as child-care workers to pay a reduced copayment based on their income. Specifically, families with a child-care employe or direct support professional will have their copayment capped at fifteen percent of their annual income, regardless of the family's overall income level. This aims to ensure that those working in child care can access affordable care for their own children while maintaining their employment in the sector. The act is set to take effect in 60 days.
