Mental health is an essential component of our overall well-being. It affects one in five people in the U.S. and 1.8 million adults in Pennsylvania (Source: National Alliance on Mental Illness). In the future, I intend to introduce legislation to create a new special registration license plate for mental health.

The idea for this license plate came from a father who lost his daughter to suicide in 2020. He channeled his grief toward providing mental health resources and services to others and founded the organization, Building Bridges for Brianna. His efforts have helped save countless lives in York County and across Pennsylvania.

You can learn more about Building Bridges for Brianna here.

The proceeds from this plate will be allocated to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. 988 provides Pennsylvanians with an easier way to connect to behavioral or mental health crisis services. By addressing mental health through targeted funding and thoughtful policy, we can help provide better services for the people in the Commonwealth.

I hope you will join me in supporting mental health and sponsoring this legislation.
