This bill amends the Housing Authorities Law of Pennsylvania, specifically Section 10(ee), to expand the powers of housing authorities in certain municipalities. The amendment allows housing authorities in counties of the second class, as well as cities of the second class A and third class, to appoint police officers. These officers will have the same powers as municipal police officers in the areas where the authority is located, particularly concerning the property and maintaining order on and adjacent to the authority's grounds and buildings.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that these appointed police officers must complete the same training required for municipal police officers and receive certification from the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission. This ensures that the officers are adequately trained and certified to perform their duties effectively. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
