In the near future, I will be reintroducing legislation (former HB 1884) to provide instruction on Communism, including how victims suffered under these regimes through poverty, starvation, migration, systemic lethal violence, and suppression of speech in our children’s secondary education.
Pennsylvania school children are already required to have at least four semesters of study in American government and history during 7th through 12th grade. My legislation would require that such instruction, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, include instruction on Communism and how individuals struggled under these repressive governments.
This legislation suggests relevant topics of instruction and requires the State Board of Education to adopt revised academic standards pertaining to this instruction.
The legislation is modeled after a Florida law.
Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to educate our children on this system of government that is diametrically opposed to all that the United States stands for and represents.
