I will introduce a resolution designating May 15, 2025, as Senior Fraud Awareness Day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This day is intended to raise awareness about the increasing issue of senior fraud, encouraging communities to educate seniors about common scams, while providing resources for those affected.
The Senior Fraud Awareness Day will serve as an important opportunity to highlight the need for continued education and support for our senior citizens. We can empower our seniors and their families to recognize fraudulent schemes, ultimately improving their safety and well-being. A recent National Council on Aging study estimates that seniors lost $60 Billion in fraudulent scams last year.
I encourage your support for this resolution and your participation in spreading awareness about the growing problem of senior fraud in our communities.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
