Pennsylvania's students deserve excellence in education, regardless of their ZIP code. Yet today, thousands of our children are confined to some of the state's lowest achieving district schools, waking up each morning to educational institutions that fail to meet their fundamental needs.

To address this critical issue, we are re introducing legislation to establish the Lifeline Scholarship Program. This initiative will empower students (grades K-12) and families with household income below 350% of the Federal poverty guidelines or who reside in the attendance areas of our lowest-performing schools with the resources they need to pursue high-quality educational alternatives.

Eligible families will receive scholarships to cover qualified educational expenses, including school tuition, required textbooks and curriculum materials, specialized services for students with special needs, and other supplemental education-related resources to help scholarship recipients achieve grade-level expectations.

These Lifeline Scholarships represent more than just funding – they offer hope and opportunity to families who currently lack educational choices. Every child deserves access to an education that nurtures their potential and prepares them for success.

I invite you to co-sponsor this vital legislation. Together, we can provide an educational lifeline to thousands of Pennsylvania students and help restore the promise that quality education remains the cornerstone of the American Dream.
