We plan to introduce legislation to create statewide licensing for plumbers. Pennsylvania is one of six states not requiring plumbers to be licensed. This leads to our surrounding states having their unlicensed plumbers come to take Pennsylvania jobs and work. Without proper licensing, there is greater risk of worker injury and unqualified plumbers can also result in poor quality installations, creating safety risks and causing costly repairs for consumers.

In addition to worker safety and work quality, establishing statewide licensing requirements will allow for reciprocity with other states. This will allow Pennsylvania plumbers to more easily work in other states with licensing requirements.
This language for the legislation was developed and supported by small business plumbing contractors, ABC, and PA Pipe Trades.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to protect Pennsylvania workers and consumers by ensuring only qualified contractors and plumbers are working on plumbing projects throughout the state.
