The rising cost of a college education is severely impacting the financial stability of graduates in Pennsylvania, leaving many overburdened with overwhelming debt. Veterans now represent an increasing portion of these debt-saddled graduates. As the costs associated with receiving a college education rise year after year, we must do all we can to ensure the programs designed to provide the financial resources necessary for veterans and their families to attend college debt-free are readily available and free from unnecessary hurdles.

To address this issue, I will reintroduce legislation that reduces the residency requirement for veterans and their families applying for the state Educational Gratuity Program to just one year. This change will help the program achieve its intended purpose and assist more veterans in our Commonwealth.

Veterans selflessly serve our nation, and we must ensure they can easily access the resources that they have earned. I ask that you please join me in co-sponsoring this timely and important legislation.
