In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would greatly help our small business community.
Act 86 of 2016 limited the amount of money businesses could receive through a discount for the sales and use tax collected and remitted to the Commonwealth. Prior to Act 86 of 2016, a business could claim 1% of the tax collected and remitted, but after Act 86, that discount has been capped at $300/annually.
This policy change has cost small businesses money, which has resulted in providing free services to the Commonwealth, at their own expense.
My legislation would simply double the current discount rate from $300/year to $600/year. This would truly help the small businesses who were harmed by Act 86.
