With energy prices rising and a retail energy market that can be confusing even to the most savvy customers, we need to increase protections for energy consumers. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has provided some protection through the regulatory process, but it is time for the General Assembly to increase those protections through common-sense legislation.

In the near future, I will introduce legislation to protect residential energy consumers in Pennsylvania from confusing and pushy sales tactics often used during in-person sales of electricity and natural gas supply. My legislation will limit the days and times that in-person sales can occur, provide a mandatory cooling off period before the sale can be finalized, and provide an affirmative means of verifying the veracity of the sale.

Please join me in by cosponsoring this very important common-sense legislation to protect energy consumers by limiting the in-person sales of electricity and natural gas supply.
