We plan to introduce legislation that would allow for the grant and the conveyance of 2100 W. Girard Avenue, the former site of The Philadelphia Nursing Home (shuttered in 2022), under terms and conditions to be established by the commonwealth’s Department of General Services and the county in an agreement of sale.

The Philadelphia Housing Authority has proposed redeveloping this site into a hospice facility, assisted, independent, and other residential living. The projected economic benefits of capital investments for this project for the commonwealth is roughly
$309 million in cumulative economic impact, supporting approximately 320 job-years and $85 million in employee compensation during the construction.

The projected annual economic impact of the site for the commonwealth once completed is $4.1 million, supporting 19 full-time jobs and about $1 million in employee compensation. Site operations are estimated to generate another $65,000 in annual tax revenue for our commonwealth.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to which will positively impact our local community and the commonwealth's health and economic well-being.

This bill is a companion to Senate Bill 34.
