I will soon offer a resolution designating March as "National Social Work Month" in Pennsylvania to recognize the nearly 700,000 social workers who vastly serve communities across our nation.

Social workers are amidst some of our most dedicated, passionate, and resilient professionals. There are very few roles that have an impact in such diverse settings for such diverse populations. Their commitment to empowering individuals, families, and communities is felt nationwide in our schools, hospitals, military, child welfare agencies, community centers, and all levels of government.

Every single day, social workers work to improve their communities through positively touching the lives of the people around them in acts such as assisting veterans’ reentry into civilian life, strengthening struggling families, connecting individuals with transformative services, and even just providing an empathetic ear for someone in need.

I hope you will join me in honoring the incredible work and positive impacts our social work professionals have on our communities.
