On Sunday, February 9th, 2025 the Philadelphia Eagles routed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX by a score of 40-22. Jalen Hurts was also named Super Bowl MVP. The Eagles quarterback completed 17-of-22 passes for 221 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. He rushed 11 times for 72 yards and had a rushing touchdown. Hurts' 72 rushing yards are the most by a quarterback in Super Bowl history. Hurts broke his previous record of 70 yards, set in the Eagles' first matchup against Kansas City. Hurts' 46-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith traveled 54.9 air yards, the second-longest completion of his season and sixth-longest of his career
Philadelphia's punishing defense sacked KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes a career-high six times on route to the victory. Saquon Barkley had a great game as he ended up in the record books after surpassing Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis' 2,476 rushing yards combined between regular and postseason. Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean became the first player in NFL history to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl on his birthday. The defensive back's first career interception resulted in a pick-six on his 22nd birthday.
