School board members play a vital role in their communities, making decisions that directly impact the education and wellbeing of students. Despite these responsibilities, many school board members lack access to affordable, specialized training to strengthen the skills needed for their roles. This gap leaves some members less equipped to address challenges like approving budgets, ensuring quality curriculum, and navigating the complexities of school governance.

My legislation would allow school board members to enroll tuition-free in relevant courses at any Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) institution. These courses would focus on topics connected to their duties, such as financial management, policy development, and community engagement, equipping board members with the tools to govern effectively.

Investing in the professional development of school board members ensures stronger leadership in schools, leading to better outcomes for students, teachers, and the community. By supporting their continued education, this initiative strengthens public education governance statewide, benefiting all Pennsylvanians.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to provide school board members with the educational resources they need to excel in their roles, and to improve outcomes for students and schools across Pennsylvania.
