Dave Parker, legendary Pittsburgh Pirate, was recently elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Nicknamed “the Cobra,” Mr. Parker was one of Major League Baseball’s best players of the late 1970s. Parker spent the first 11 seasons of his 19-year major league career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, winning the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1978 and a World Series Championship with the team in 1979. Parker was known as a five-tool player with a legendary throwing arm, helping him earn three consecutive Gold Glove Awards in right field. He was also the recipient of three silver slugger awards, two National League batting titles, was a seven-time All-Star, and won a second World Series with the Oakland Athletics in 1989.

On December 8, 2024, the Classic Baseball Era Committee elected Parker to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He will be officially inducted this summer in Cooperstown, New York on July 27. To celebrate his remarkable achievement and career, I will be introducing a resolution to designate Dave Parker’s 74th birthday, June 9, 2024, as “Dave Parker Day” in Pennsylvania.

I hope that you will join me in supporting this resolution to honor Dave Parker’s long overdue election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
