Next week, we will be introducing a resolution designating February 2025 as “Career and Technical Education Month” in Pennsylvania.
Nearly 70,000 students, representing 12% of 9th to 12th grade students in the Commonwealth are enrolled in career and technical education programs, including both career and technical centers and high school-based programs. There are more than 80 career and technical education centers across Pennsylvania that offer Department of Education-approved programs built on foundations of academic rigor and high expectations for student learning and success.
CTE programs are vital to Pennsylvania’s economic future as they prepare students to enter critical workforce sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, public safety, information technology, skilled trades and more. These programs offer students the opportunity to develop critical skills through a combination of classes and hands-on learning experiences, which allow them to apply academics to real-world problems.
This resolution will raise awareness about the importance of CTE and opportunities in much needed fields while acknowledging their contribution to the Commonwealth’s economic competitiveness.
We invite you to please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution as CTE programs are vital to Pennsylvania’s economic future.
Please note, we intend to introduce this resolution next week and kindly ask for you to sign on as a co-sponsor by close of business Monday, February 3.
