A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing the week of February 15 through 22, 2025, as
2 "National FFA Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Future Farmers of America, now the National FFA
4 Organization (FFA), has grown from its agricultural beginnings
5 into a broad-spectrum leadership incubator; and
6 WHEREAS, The FFA creed expresses belief in the future of
7 agriculture with the following portion of its creed: "with a
8 faith born not of words but of deeds"; and
9 WHEREAS, In accordance with the FFA motto, members serve
10 their chapter, community and country by cultivating friendships
11 and planting new ideas and seeds of hope wherever they go:
12 "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living
13 to Serve";
14 and
15 WHEREAS, FFA in the 21st century welcomes young women and
16 young men with diverse backgrounds and FFA membership has
17 reached an all-time record high; and
1 WHEREAS, More than 1 million FFA members from 50 states, the
2 United States Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are learning to be
3 successful leaders in agriculture, agribusiness, agriscience and
4 other fields; and
5 WHEREAS, Many FFA members live far from working farms but
6 have an interest in related disciplines, including food science,
7 turf management and horticulture; and
8 WHEREAS, FFA members who live in rural farm areas now
9 represent 30% of the national organization; and
10 WHEREAS, Nearly 16,000 students enrolled in agricultural
11 education classes across this Commonwealth continue to wear the
12 traditional blue corduroy jacket which distinguishes FFA
13 members; and
14 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania FFA is led by seven State officers who
15 defer college and career for one year to advocate for
16 agriculture, agricultural education and FFA; and
17 WHEREAS, Chloe Bomgardner of Lebanon County presides as the
18 State FFA President; therefore be it
19 RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of February 15
20 through 22, 2025, as "National FFA Week" in Pennsylvania; and be
21 it further
22 RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate the members, advisers
23 and parents involved with this exemplary youth organization.
