In the near future, I will introduce legislation to create the Grid Stabilization and Security Act. This Act would direct the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to work together to identify suitable sites for natural gas electric generation projects. This will help assist in the shortfall of electric generation faced in the PJM Interconnection LLC (PJM) transmission system. Since 2019, we have not seen new investment in baseload electric generation in Pennsylvania. If Pennsylvania wants to maintain its spot as the engine that powers the mid-Atlantic region, as well as keeping up with the expected energy demand, we need to start building new generation now. This program will help play a role in expediting that process to get sites ready to attract investment to build.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this effort.
