The bill amends the Public School Code of 1949 to introduce provisions for emergency certification applicants seeking Career and Technical Education Certification. It establishes a new section, Section 1204.4, which outlines the criteria for candidates to obtain a Career and Technical Instructional I Certificate. Candidates can qualify by either holding a valid career and technical instructional certificate from another state or by having at least four years of relevant wage-earning experience along with current accreditation certifications in the subject area.
Additionally, the bill specifies that the Career and Technical Instructional I Certificate will be valid for eight school terms and can be converted to a Career and Technical Instructional II Certificate after the candidate has two years of classroom teaching experience and demonstrates satisfactory performance. The bill also mandates that candidates meeting the outlined requirements will receive their certificates on an expedited basis. This act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
