The bill amends Section 6301(a)(1) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, which addresses the offense of corruption of minors. It establishes that individuals aged 18 and older who corrupt or tend to corrupt the morals of minors under 18, or who assist minors in committing crimes or violating court orders, will be charged with a misdemeanor of the first degree. However, if the offender is employed as a peace officer or has direct contact with students, the offense escalates to a felony of the third degree.

Additionally, the bill specifies that if an individual engages in a course of conduct violating sexual offense laws that corrupts minors, the penalty is a felony of the third degree, unless the offender is a peace officer or has direct contact with students, in which case it becomes a felony of the second degree. This legislation aims to strengthen the legal repercussions for adults who exploit their positions of authority or trust in relation to minors. The act is set to take effect in 60 days.
