The Office of Inspector General Complement Increase Act establishes a pilot program aimed at enhancing the workforce of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Pennsylvania. This initiative is contingent upon sufficient funding and is designed to increase the number of OIG employees by at least 50% by January 31, 2025. The additional staff will focus on investigating claims of fraud, waste, misconduct, and abuse related to the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health. New employees are to be hired within six months of the program's effective date, which is immediate upon enactment.

Additionally, the act mandates that the OIG produce a comprehensive report within one year of hiring the new employees. This report will detail the number of investigations completed, the financial recoveries achieved, and the costs associated with the new hires. It will also include information on investigations that were not completed and any cost-saving measures initiated as a result of the increased workforce. The report must be submitted to various legislative committees and will be considered a public record under the Right-to-Know Law.
