The Office of Inspector General Complement Increase Act establishes a pilot program aimed at enhancing the workforce of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Pennsylvania. This program will focus on investigating claims of fraud, waste, misconduct, and abuse related to the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health. The act mandates that, contingent upon sufficient funding, the OIG must hire additional employees to increase its total workforce by at least 50% by January 31, 2025. These new hires are to be completed within six months of the act's effective date.

Additionally, the act requires the OIG to produce a comprehensive report within one year of hiring the new employees. This report will detail the number of investigations completed, the financial recoveries achieved, and the costs associated with the new hires, among other metrics. The report must be submitted to various legislative committees and will be considered a public record under the Right-to-Know Law. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
