The bill amends Title 3 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to establish a food allergy awareness program within the Department of Health. It replaces the previously reserved section with provisions that require public eating and drinking establishments to designate a knowledgeable manager on food allergies and ensure that all food employees review provided materials on food allergy issues. The Department of Health is tasked with preparing written and video resources for these establishments.

Additionally, the bill mandates that each licensor, in collaboration with the Department of Health, require a minimum understanding of food allergy issues as a condition for licensure. This initiative aims to enhance food safety and awareness regarding food allergies in public dining settings, ultimately protecting consumers with food allergies. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
