In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation aimed at protecting law-abiding Pennsylvanians from illegal migrants who violate the laws of this Commonwealth.

Last year, two NYPD officers were assaulted by illegal migrants. Several of the offenders had previously been arrested by law enforcement and were back on the streets.

Laken Hope Riley, a 22-year-old student at Augusta University in Georgia, was brutally murdered by an illegal migrant with multiple prior arrests by various law enforcement agencies across the country. This is unconscionable and must be addressed.

Our legislation will require an attorney for the Commonwealth to immediately notify ICE during the course of a criminal proceeding. This will ensure that illegal migrants who violate our laws are held accountable.

This legislation was introduced last session as Senate Bill 1127 and received strong bipartisan support, passing the Senate with a vote of 34-16. Previous co-sponsors included: Gebhard, Rothman, Pennycuick, Phillips-Hill, Brooks, and J. Ward.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
