In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation to increase penalties for the crime of delivery of a controlled substance near recovery houses.
Act 59 of 2017 established standards for recovery houses in Pennsylvania and has been instrumental in creating safer and healthier facilities within our Commonwealth. However, an unintended consequence of these facilities has seen drug dealers target these areas as a place to peddle their poison. Those battling addiction and involved in recovery should have a safe place to do so, free from the temptation of drug use.
Accordingly, my legislation will create enhanced penalties for those convicted of drug delivery near those houses.
