All workers deserve a break. Whether it is for lunch or just to get a moment away, we need to make sure workers have that right. Currently, PA law only requires mandated employee meal breaks for workers under the age of 18. In order for our workforce to be working at their best and safest, a meal break midway through their shift is absolutely necessary.

For this reason, I will reintroduce legislation that would require employers to provide at least 30 minutes of rest after five hours of continuous work. Additionally, workers will have the freedom to leave their workplace for their meal breaks.

Last session, this bill (HB2356) passed the House Labor and Industry Committee, though it failed to receive a floor vote. This session, please join me in supporting Pennsylvania workers by providing a simple and fair break during the work day.
