Since the founding of our nation, immigrants have played a vital part in the development and success of our country. Because of this, it is important that we understand, appreciate, and recognize the culture and traditions of our immigrant communities, including the Romanian community. There are approximately 170,000 Romanian immigrants currently living in the United States and more than 4,200 living in Pennsylvania.

The Romanian Blouse represents centuries of tradition, artistry, and cultural identity of the Romanian people. This article of clothing holds profound cultural significance as an iconic symbol of Romanian heritage and craftsmanship, and June 24 has been recognized as the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse for more than ten years.

To honor the heritage of the Romanian community in our state, I am introducing a resolution designating June 24, 2025, as “Universal Day of Romanian Blouse” in Pennsylvania. I hope that you will join me in recognizing the cultural significance of the Romanian Blouse and the importance of our Romanian population by supporting this resolution.
