In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would allow Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Limited Wineries (LK) to obtain a new add-on permit enabling them to distill brandy for in-house use.
This legislation will be specifically tailored to this purpose and will:
- Prohibit the sale of the distilled brandy to the public;
- Allow the distilled brandy only to fortify wine produced on the premises; and
- Permit the distilled brandy to be made exclusively from grapes or fruit grown at that location.
This initiative will provide additional opportunities for Pennsylvania vineyards and orchards, leading to more investment in the Commonwealth by local and small wineries. Neighboring states, including Ohio and Virginia, offer similar permits for farm wineries. This legislation will ensure Pennsylvania remains competitive with surrounding states and will create more economic and employment opportunities.
This legislation was previously introduced as
Senate Bill 963. Previous co-sponsors include Vogel, Dush, and Pennycuick.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
