The Child and Adult Care Food Program is a federal program that reimburses care facilities for food they serve to needy enrollees. This program, while important, does not go far enough to alleviate the burden on facilities of the high cost of feeding enrollees.

Care facilities for children and adults provide an invaluable service to our state. These facilities allow us to work while knowing that our loved ones are in safe hands. Unfortunately, these facilities deal with incredibly high operating costs.

That is why we are introducing legislation to create the Child and Adult Care Food Program Supplement. This legislation will provide supplemental food funds to facilities already participating in the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program and allow them to better serve their enrollees by offering more services or – if the facility is a non-profit – stabilize their finances to ensure continued success.

It is crucial that everyone in our Commonwealth who wants to work, can work. By ensuring our Commonwealth’s care facilities are supported, we give families the confidence to invest in Pennsylvania and continue their employment without as many obstacles for the care and well-being of their dependents.

It is time that we help the facilities that support our workforce. Please join us in co-sponsoring this bill so we can help those who care for our loved ones.
