Senator Kearney and I will soon be re-introducing a package of legislation to improve pay and working conditions for transportation network company (TNC) drivers utilizing ride-sharing apps (i.e. Uber, Lyft).
The first bill of this package will direct the Joint State Government Commission (JSGC) to study and analyze ride-sharing app economic data and instruct the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to use results from the JSGC study to establish a minimum rate of fare for TNC rides. This bill was filed as SB 70 during 2023-24 legislative session and previous co-sponsors include Senators Fontana, Hughes, Brewster, Kane, Cappelletti, and Collett
A second bill will also require a Pennsylvania drivers’ license to drive for a TNC in Pennsylvania. This bill was filed as SB 71 during 2023-24 legislative session and previous co-sponsors include Fontana, Hughes, Brewster, Kane, Cappelletti, and Collett.
Please join us in sponsoring this important legislative package.
