We have seen the effects on our local governments, business owners and individuals from the organizations which run Interstate Compacts that the Commonwealth has entered into. Most of these harmful impacts are because once formed, there is little to no accountability for the bureaucrats within the organization to The People of the Commonwealth or their legislators.
For this reason, I am re-introducing legislation (former
SB 738 cosponsored by Senators Baker, Hutchinson, Phillips-Hill and J. Ward) that would create a constitutional amendment which would require any future compacts the Commonwealth would enter into have ten-year limits with options to renew only with affirmative legislative approval.
I hope you will join me as co-sponsor of this important piece of legislation which would ensure future compacts would provide protections against unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats placing undue burdens on our citizens.
