I plan to re-introduce legislation amending the Municipalities Planning Code that would require conspicuous and legible signs to be posted on land proposed for subdivision or land development.
There are presently no requirements within the Municipalities Planning Code when it comes to posted notice of subdivision and land development. Therefore, property developers can provide “notice” with nothing more than an 8  ” by 11” sheet of paper. Something like this is not legible from the road, often leaving passersby with more questions than answers – if they even see it in the first place.
My bill would provide specific size requirements for posted signage on property proposed for development, ensuring that the signage is noticeable and legible from a reasonable distance. This signage would be required to remain up until a decision is made on the subdivision or land development application, so that residents are aware of what is proposed in their communities and have the opportunity to be heard as part of the process.

This legislation (prior HB 123) passed in the House last session with bipartisan support.
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this common sense measure to ensure transparency in development and encourage public awareness and participation in local government.
