In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating September 2025 as Alopecia Areata Awareness Month in Pennsylvania.

Alopecia areata affects as many as 6.8 million people in America and causes hair loss which can range from patches of hair, typically circular and coin-size, to complete hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia totalis.  This common skin disease is highly unpredictable and cyclical.  Although there is no known cure, hair can grow back in or fall out again at any time, and the disease course is different for each person.  Fortunately, alopecia areata is not a life-threatening illness.

My resolution seeks to bring awareness to the impact that alopecia areata can have on people living with this disorder as well as the need for public awareness.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
