In 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary. As state legislators, it is our responsibility to prepare Pennsylvania for this significant milestone, ensuring that we honor our past, celebrate our present, and chart a course for our future. Pennsylvania has played a pivotal role in the history of our nation, making it the ideal place to engage students in learning about their own stories and reflecting on how they contribute to the unique fabric of our Commonwealth and country.
To help prepare for this momentous occasion, we are introducing legislation to establish guidelines for teachers through a program called “What is Your Pennsylvania Story?” These guidelines will encourage students to share their personal experiences and connections to both Pennsylvania and the United States. Students from every corner of the Commonwealth will have the opportunity to engage with one another, building relationships that will last through 2026 and beyond.
We believe it is essential to celebrate the diverse stories of the children across Pennsylvania. We invite you to join us in supporting this legislation, which will honor and celebrate the stories that have enriched our state and our nation.
