Adrenaline insufficiency affects the adrenal glands, causing individuals diagnosed to produce low levels of cortisol and aldosterone. Adrenal crisis, or acute adrenal insufficiency, is a severe, life threatening condition, contributing to high mortality rates.

For students, especially students participating in physical activities at school, adrenaline insufficiency can threaten their health and well-being without the administration of medication. My legislation would direct schools to develop policies for the possession and self-administration of adrenal insufficiency medications, direct the Department of Health to work with the Department of Education to provide resources on the administration of adrenal insufficiency, and authorize trained employees at schools to administer adrenal insufficiency medication.

By enacting this legislation, we may save the lives of students affected by adrenaline insufficiency and ensure they may participate in school activities with their medication easily accessible to them.
