The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) utilizes the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) to monitor terrorists and individuals suspected of being terrorists. Individuals identified on the TSC cannot fly on commercial aircraft; however, they are nor prohibited from purchasing firearms.

Among mass shooting events in the US, in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, the FBI had investigated the alleged shooter, Colin Gray. In the mass shootings in Fort Hood, Texas and Orlando, Florida, the FBI suspected the shooters of terrorism. Despite the FBI’s suspicions, these individuals legally purchased firearms.

My legislation would offer real protections, ensuring that terrorists and suspected terrorists cannot purchase firearms. If these individuals are deemed too dangerous to fly on aircraft, they should not be permitted to purchase firearms. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation so we may restrict the ability of terrorists and suspected terrorists to purchase firearms in Pennsylvania.
