In recent years, Pennsylvanians have faced an alarming trend of hospital closures, consolidations, and reductions in critical healthcare services. These developments jeopardize access to care for communities across the Commonwealth, often leaving patients without viable healthcare options.

Unfortunately, some of these closures result from acquisitions by entities that prioritize short-term financial gains over the long-term health and well-being of the communities these hospitals serve.

To address this growing concern, we will be introducing legislation to strengthen oversight of hospital acquisitions. The bill aims to ensure that proper notice is given to the Office of the Attorney General, enabling the Commonwealth to exercise its watchdog role and enforce protections against predatory practices. This initiative will safeguard and prioritize the continued availability of healthcare services for all Pennsylvanians.

This legislation will focus on providing increased transparency and allowing state authorities adequate time to evaluate the impact of significant transactions on communities, patients, and access to care.

We invite you to join us in cosponsoring this critical legislation to protect Pennsylvanians' access to vital healthcare services.
