I will soon be introducing a resolution designating the day of May 21, 2025 as “Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day” in Pennsylvania.

This resolution honors the accomplishments of the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program that has operated in Pennsylvania since 1985. For the past 40 years, the EMSC program has served children across the Commonwealth in a collaborative effort with the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Bureau of EMS, the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council (PEHSC), and other federal health partners.

The EMSC program seeks to ensure quality emergency medical care for infants, children, and teens across Pennsylvania. The program supports many pediatric emergency departments and emergency medical services (EMS) agencies in addition to multi-institutional research on pediatric emergency medicine and healthcare systems.

Every child in Pennsylvania deserves equal access to emergency care regardless of they live. We hope you will join us as a co-sponsor of this legislation to recognize the value of this lifesaving program and the dedication of the EMS personnel who take care of the children it serves.
