Participating in school clubs and organizations can be a valuable experience for students. These extracurricular activities provide opportunities for students to develop new skills, build relationships with peers, and explore their interests. However, it is important for parents to be notified and provide consent for their child to join a school organization or club to ensure that they are aware of their child's activities outside of the classroom. By knowing what clubs and organizations their child is involved in, parents can better support their child's interests and be more involved in their child's education. This can include attending events or meetings, providing transportation, or even volunteering to assist with the organization or club.

Requiring parental notice can help ensure the safety of students. School organizations and clubs often involve travel, fundraising, and other activities that may require parental consent or supervision. By requiring parental notice, schools can ensure that parents are aware of these activities and can provide appropriate consent or supervision.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to ensure that parents are aware of their child's activities in school.  By working together, schools and parents can provide students with the best possible educational experience both inside and outside of the classroom.
