In the near future, I will re-introduce a resolution recognizing "International Women's Day" in the Commonwealth.
#AccelerateAction is the theme for this year's March 8th international celebration. Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's, and annually on March 8th, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. This day strives to acknowledge the economic, political, and social achievements of women throughout history, and it is my belief that our Commonwealth should join in recognizing these accomplishments and how vital women are to our communities.
I encourage you to join me as a co-sponsor.
