In the wake of increased attacks on transit workers in the workplace, in the near future, we will introduce legislation that will assist transit agencies in implementing improved security measures. This legislation would establish a grant program to help implement and support the establishment of increased security measures. These enhanced measures may include capital improvements (e.g., security cameras, bulletproof partitions, security equipment, safety-related technology) and other initiatives (e.g., security training, security staffing). This legislation will allow transit systems and workers to create innovative solutions instead of having them imposed by the legislature.

Making transit workers safer will also make our transit systems safer for riders and the general public. Please join us by co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.

Previously introduced in the 2023-2024 session as HB1964
