In the near future, I intend to reintroduce legislation that will require the General Assembly to record and publicly post all committee meetings and hearings.

As public servants, we have a fundamental responsibility to ensure that the constituents who have elected us have clear insight into how we are representing their interests. A crucial part of this is providing transparency into the decision-making process, especially during meetings where we vote on legislation that directly affects their lives. Transparency is a cornerstone of effective and accountable governance.

My goal is to guarantee that constituents are empowered to observe and understand how their government functions. Under my proposed legislation, all committee meetings and hearings of the General Assembly will be recorded and made publicly available online. Furthermore, where technologically feasible, these proceedings will be live streamed to maximize public access and engagement.

This legislation was formerly
Senate Bill 163 during the 2023-24 Session and was co-sponsored by Senators Phillips-Hill, Mastriano, Bartolotta, Costa, Pennycuick, Collett, Comitta, Haywood, and and L. Williams.

I hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Jeffrey Ivicic in my office at
