By 2030, the world population of menopausal and postmenopausal women is projected to increase to 1.2 billion, with 47 million new entrants each year. Here in the United States, 29% of women never seek information about menopause before experiencing it, and 34% never receive a diagnosis or treatment.

Enabling women to engage in discussions about menopause with healthcare providers and family members can play a significant role in removing the stigma surrounding this natural phase of life. It’s crucial to foster honest and open conversation in all areas of health.

The legislation I propose is a companion bill to last session’s HB 807 introduced by Representative Hanbidge. We want to make sure that all women in Pennsylvania are ready and empowered to handle the changes that come with menopause. To achieve this, we plan to collaborate with the Department of Health and healthcare providers to provide important information about the stages of menopause and perimenopause. This includes understanding the symptoms, the biological changes that occur, and ways to manage and alleviate those symptoms. With this initiative, women in Pennsylvania can approach menopause with confidence, armed with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate this transition.

It's time to give Pennsylvania women the resources they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. I invite you to support this legislation to benefit all women across our state.
