Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision in 2010, corporations and special interest groups have had undue influence over Pennsylvania elections and policies. This ruling has allowed the role of money in political campaigns to grow unchecked over the past decade. It is time to implement reasonable limits on campaign contributions to restore fairness to our electoral system.

We are introducing legislation to address this issue by setting limits on campaign contributions in Pennsylvania. Specifically, our bill will amend the Pennsylvania Elections Code to cap the total amount of contributions per candidate for all offices in a calendar year at $10,000 for individuals and $20,000 for political action committees (PACs).

Our democracy functions best when big money is kept out of politics, ensuring that all citizens—not just the wealthy few—have a voice. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important legislation to restore balance to our elections and protect our democracy from the influence of mega-donors, large corporations, and special interest groups.
