In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that urges the federal government to provide state and local governments with the legal authority to take immediate action when unidentified drones threaten the safety and privacy of our communities.

As of mid-November, there have been more than 3,000 documented sightings of unidentified drones in New Jersey. These drones are operating near military bases, private residences, and various sensitive locations. The unidentified threat that these drones possess are unable to be dealt with in a swift and decisive manner by state and local governments.

Currently, federal regulations prevent state and local governments from taking immediate, effective action when unidentified drones possibly threaten the safety and privacy of our communities. This is unacceptable. The federal government should empower state and local governments the legal authority to respond decisively and quickly to a possible unidentified drone threat.

Furthermore, the federal government should implement stronger response measures and public transparency measures when dealing with potential unidentified drone threats. The people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania deserve the safety and security of immediate and effective state and local government action when unidentified drones threaten their communities.

Therefore, my resolution seeks to provide safety and security for the people of the Commonwealth by urging the federal government to empower state and local governments with the legal authority to take immediate and effective action when unidentified drones threaten our communities.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation to provide necessary safety, security, and answers to our constituents when dealing with the threat of unidentified drones.
