In the near future, I intend to reintroduce legislation to freeze property taxes for certain seniors.
Specifically, this legislation would prohibit any political subdivision from imposing any
increase in property taxes on residents that:
- are age 65 or older,
- have lived in their homes for at least five years, and
- make less than $65,000 annually.
Until local school districts can limit increases to residents’ local property tax bills, my legislation will aim to provide real tax relief to the older Pennsylvanians who are hardest hit by rising property taxes.
Last session, as SB 469, Senators COSTA, FONTANA, TARTAGLIONE, and FARRY signed on as co-sponsors.
