When a company posts an open job in Pennsylvania, they are currently not required to provide a minimum salary or salary range. For those looking for a job, this makes the job search difficult due to not knowing whether a posting will meet the salary they need while also making it unclear how much they should expect to make in a similar job.
I will be introducing legislation to increase pay transparency in job postings by requiring companies to include a salary range, and, where a range is not available, a salary minimum. This both saves companies time and money in the recruiting and interview process and allows job seekers to only apply for positions that meet their salary needs. Additionally, pay transparency in job postings is an important step towards reducing pay inequality as it allows job applicants to know how much they should expect to be paid.
All workers in Pennsylvania deserve equal pay for equal work. By increasing transparency of salary at the very beginning of the job search, we can begin to ensure all Pennsylvania workers are paid fairly for their position and experience. This is important regardless of whether an individual is looking to change jobs or is just starting out in the workforce. Join me in supporting pay transparency and fair pay for all Pennsylvanians by co-sponsoring this important legislation.
