I intend to re-introduce legislation to amend the School Code to provide more predictability regarding Career and Technical Education Equipment Grant Funding.

As part of the 2024-2025 budget, we aligned Basic Education, Special Education, and Career and Technical Education funding calculations to all use data that is established as of June 1, prior to the school year in which the allocation occurs.

My legislation would do the same for the Career and Technical Education Equipment Grants.  This will provide additional certainty to our career and tech schools, knowing their grant allocations prior to the school year, rather than receiving a reimbursement based on calculations made near the end of the school year, after they have made purchases.

Senate Bill 1342 was co-sponsored by Senators BROWN, DUSH, HUGHES, MILLER, PENNYCUICK, ROTHMAN, TARTAGLIONE, and J. WARD.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to help these schools better serve their students through predictable funding calculations.
