In the near future, I will be re-introducing Senate Bill 218 from last session to allow the residual funds of terminated political action committees (PACs) to be donated to non-profit organizations.

Under current law, the Election Code requires that the funds remaining in the account of a terminated PAC can only be used for campaign expenses or distributed back to campaign donors. My legislation would provide a third opportunity by allowing for money to be donated to non-profit organizations.

The bill prohibits the donation of these funds to a non-profit organization that has an affiliation with the candidate or a PAC officer.

A previous version of the bill, Senate Bill 862, passed the Senate State Government Committee unanimously in 2021.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation.  Previous co-sponsors include Senators Kane, Tartaglione, Schwank, Phillips-Hill, Santarsiero, Fontana, Comitta, Bartolotta, Brewster, Street and Cappelletti.
